Meet Ken! Sasquatch Celebrity March 2024

After retiring from the Washington State Patrol after 26 years of service, Ken was hired by CCS in 2011 and became the Director of District Security for the west portion of our District (SFCC, Pullman Center, etc.).

Ken's NameWhat CCS Foundation program or scholarship do you support and why?

Currently I contribute to CCS Foundation scholarships. I choose to contribute there because I know the staff at the CCS Foundation are incredible stewards of these funds which are used to help support our current and future students in a way that ensures those students are better able to achieve their desired goals while attending one of our colleges.

Why do you choose to donate to the Foundation?

Community colleges are a lifeline for our community. I would not be where I am at today if it were not for the accessibility of community colleges and the subsequent support I received to help me pave the way towards success. For me, I feel strongly that the funds I contribute to the CCS Foundation, simply stated, help ensure we are able to keep the idea of “community” in community college and support our students!

Fun Fact: If you could meet any fictional character, who would you like to meet?

If I could meet any fictional character, it would be the wise Yoda from Star Wars. With Yoda, what you see is not what you get. There is so much more than what is on the surface, something I can relate too. Yoda, as an example, comes across as a small, meek creature when he, in fact, is so wise, strong, ‘quick like a Jedi’ and so completely in tune with his surroundings/environment (aka The Force). His vast experiences, once you get to know him, give conviction and credibility to both his words and actions, something I totally get. And I could talk to him about all things in the Universe!
